The Social Security Fairness Act (H.R. 82) is gaining significant traction in Congress. Has your U.S. Representative signed on? Passage of this bill would be a pivotal moment for you and other public sector workers affected by the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO).

These provisions have long reduced Social Security benefits for Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) retirees and other public servants who also receive pensions from employment not covered by Social Security, such as police officers and firefighters.

The Petition to Discharge H.R. 82 has enough cosigners to push for a Congressional vote. HR 82 seeks repeal of BOTH Social Security penalties – the WEP and the GPO

Now is the time to call your member of Congress and ask them to support the next step—passage of this bill.
