The principalship continues to change as evidenced by the results of TEPSA’s 2019 Member Survey. With 52% of respondents joining TEPSA within the last 5 years, our membership has become much more fluid as educators spend less time in the principalship role. 45% intend to advance their career within the next 3 years.
Respondents expressed satisfaction with TEPSA, and 85% said the value of membership is equal to or better than its cost.
Principals, assistant principals and supervisors listed the following as their top 5 areas of focus:
- Instructional leadership
- Campus culture
- Behavior management
- Data-driven instruction
- Education law
Survey results will be analyzed by the TEPSA Standing Committees at their January meeting, and recommendations for programs and services will be sent to the Board of Directors for approval. The survey response rate was 15% and is considered statistically reliable within a 3% range.
