School Office Fundamentals

September 4-5, 2025
Day 1 from 1-4pm, Day 2 from 9am-Noon

The role of school office personnel is often filled with complex tasks, high stress and little time. This workshop addresses many of the business-related tasks unique to campus-level accounting. Although designed for campus support staff and bookkeepers, this training is relevant for district office employees who need a greater understanding of best practices and essential school accounting principles. Topics include account codes, activity funds, budget monitoring and amendment, cash management and petty cash, purchasing, records management and retention, and customer service.

Budget Fundamentals for Campus Principals – 2-Part Online Program

Session 1: Budgeting Essentials for Campus Principals
November 12 from 9am-Noon

In addition to serving as the instructional leader of a campus, every campus principal is responsible for managing the campus budget. The Budgeting Essentials for Campus Principals Workshop will provide the knowledge needed for state mandated account codes and business practices in the areas of activity funds, cash management and purchasing that are subject to audit on an annual basis.

Session 2: Budget Development for Campus Principals
January 14 from 9am-Noon

Campus principals play an essential role in identifying students eligible to be served in special programs such gifted and talented, special education, bilingual, etc. Developing a budget for these programs includes identifying the necessary teaching staff and allocating for supplies and services to support the needs of the students. Additionally, this workshop will examine strategies and best practices to ensure compliance with state laws related to the programs.

The Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA), whose hallmark is educational leaders learning with and from each other, has served Texas PK-8 school leaders since 1917.
